Parent Teacher Committee (PTC)

Our Parent Teacher Committee serves St. Cecilia in many ways. The committee’s purpose is as follows:

  • To advance & support St. Cecilia School’s mission.
  • To promote parent involvement in school activities and to increase members’ interest in the educational affairs of the school.
  • To enhance the parent and teachers’ role in the education of the child; increasing parents’ knowledge of education and its process by increasing the parents' and teachers' mutual understanding of children and also by providing an opportunity for parents and teachers to work together for the good of the child.
  • To promote fundraisers to supplement the operational costs of the school and raise funds for special projects.
  • To be a positive force in the community for the good of the school.

Committees & Events

The Color Run is one of our favorite fall traditions! Held every year on the Thursday before Fall Break in October, the event features students running while volunteers cheer them on and throw colorful powder as they make their way through the course. This celebration event is part of our 5 Days for the Bluejays St. Cecilia Fund giving event and brings our school community together for a fun-filled afternoon.

PTC helps make the Color Run possible by preparing the color, setting up the course, and working stations along the route. Volunteers help fill color bottles during the school day, throw color on students during the run, and assist with event setup and cleanup. Event-day assignments will be coordinated and shared by the event chair via email.

For decades, St. Cecilia has helped kick off the Broussard Community Fair with our annual Pageant! While the event began as a traditional pageant with contestants and winners, it has evolved into a fun night of class performances featuring our even-year grades. It is a beloved St. Cecilia tradition and a great way to celebrate our students and officially begin Fair weekend.

PTC helps bring the Pageant to life by preparing the lobby and concession areas, gathering and organizing decorations and supplies, and assisting with setup on the day of the event. Volunteers can also help with ticket sales and concessions throughout the evening.

The Broussard Community Fair is a longtime tradition that brings our school and the Broussard community together each fall. St. Cecilia has been an important part of the Fair for generations, from kicking off the weekend with our Pageant to participating in activities throughout the Fair. It is a great opportunity for our families to come together, celebrate our community, and show off a little Bluejay spirit!

PTC supports St. Cecilia’s involvement in the Broussard Community Fair by coordinating volunteers for activities and helping ensure our presence at the Fair is a success. Volunteer opportunities may include helping with setup and cleanup, working games and booths, and assisting with other needs throughout the Fair weekend. Specific opportunities and assignments will be shared as the Fair approaches.

Bluejay Bash is St. Cecilia’s biggest annual fundraiser and one of our largest community celebrations of the year! This two-day event brings together Bluejay families, alumni, friends, and supporters for a full day of fun and fellowship, with something for everyone. Bluejay Bash includes the golf tournament, The NEST, silent auction, concessions, and cookoff, making it a busy and exciting weekend on campus and throughout the community.

PTC plays an important role in making Bluejay Bash a success by providing volunteers to help with the many moving parts of the event. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the day and may include helping with the golf tournament, The NEST, silent auction, concessions, and cookoff. Individual volunteer opportunities for each area will be shared by the event chair as the event approaches.

Each May, our school community takes a full week to celebrate the teachers and staff who give so much to our students throughout the year. Teacher Appreciation Week is filled with special meals, treats, and surprises designed to let our faculty and staff know just how much they are appreciated. It is a St. Cecilia tradition that brings families together to thank the people who care for and teach our children every day.

PTC helps make the week special by providing breakfast and lunch for teachers and administration each day, as well as creating a welcoming and festive space for our faculty and staff. Volunteers can help with setup and cleanup, picking up food from local restaurants, decorating the teachers’ lounge, and assisting with other needs throughout the week. There are opportunities to help even if you only have a little time to give!

Bring the Bluejay Spirit Shop to life at special events throughout the school year! Volunteers assist with setting up and packing up pop-up shops, as well as working the Spirit Shop during events such as Grandparents’ Day and Bluejay Bash. Help families find and purchase their favorite Bluejay gear!

Make our school events look and feel special! Volunteers assist with decorating for Back to School, Teacher Appreciation Week, Color Run, and other special events. Opportunities may include creating banners and backdrops, setting up balloon arches, decorating spaces, and helping with event-day décor. Creative skills are welcome, but a willingness to help is all you need!
