Bluejay Basketball
Basketball is one of the most exciting parts of winter at St. Cecilia School, with opportunities for both boys and girls in grades 5–8. Our program emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while giving our athletes the chance to compete with pride as Bluejays.
Girls’ Basketball
Our girls’ basketball program is a tradition of excellence, fostering both athletic growth and team camaraderie. From fundamentals to competitive play, our athletes develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed both on and off the court.
Many of our Bluejays go on to make their mark in high school athletics, with alumni continuing to earn recognition at the next level. One standout is AC Froehlich, a 2015–2019 Bluejay who went on to become an All-State and All-District player from 2021 to 2023.
Our girls’ teams have proudly brought home multiple championships, including grade-level titles in 2021, a program sweep in 2022, and most recently, the 5th Grade Girls Basketball Team’s 2025 Championship victory. These achievements highlight the hard work and commitment of our student-athletes and coaches, making girls’ basketball a source of great pride for the SCS community.
Boys’ Basketball
Our boys’ basketball program gives Bluejays in grades 5–8 the chance to grow as athletes while learning the values of teamwork, determination, and discipline. On the court, our players develop not only their skills but also a love for the game that carries into the future.
One of the most notable alumni of our program is Eric Mouton, whose journey began at St. Cecilia before leading him to play at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USL). As a starting point guard, he helped USL capture a Sun Belt Conference Championship and was part of the historic upset of #4 Oklahoma as a #13 seed in the NCAA Tournament. After college, Eric went on to a successful coaching career at Nichols, VC, USL, OC, and STM. Today, he serves as the Athletic Director and Head Coach at Ascension Episcopal, with a state championship at STM also among his accomplishments.
His story reflects the opportunities and strong foundation built within our boys’ basketball program, which continues to inspire young Bluejays each season.
